The Holy Spirit Has Given Each of Us a Special Gift . . . for the Use of Others! An invisible Christianity . . . is no Christianity, the Lord tells us. Jesus tells His disciples that you have been given something. If you give yourself to something else . . . you can lose the goodness that has been given you. Jesus then talks about the Light within the Gospel. Elsewhere, He says He is the Light of the world. In this Gospel He tells his disciples they are the light of the world. Light must be visible and recognizable . . . or, it is no good. You Are The Light in the World Jesus is talking about our lives. He says He has not kindled new light and new life in you . . . I have not kindled faith in you . . . so that you will be covered up! Light is lit . . . it shines bright . . . so that others may see! Jesus says stop with the excuses that one does not like to stand out. Stop with the excuses that one likes to be in the background. He does not say show off . . . or impose yourself. He says, do not hide. Do not conceal what you have been given. Let the light you have been given shine. Hear more within the audio. The Holy Spirit Has Given Each of Us a Gift St. Paul states in his writings that the Holy Spirit has given each of us a gift that is not for you . . . but for others. Every member of the Church . . . every member of the body, has been gifted something for others . . . the body of the Church! Wow! When we get frustrated with the Church . . . and the world, St. Paul and Jesus both say, we have been given something .. . for others. Consider that for a moment. Hear more, and its importance, within the audio. We hear more about this with the prophet Elisha. Jesus prepares a place for him, in another land, with a widow and her son. He does this at a great time of drought . . . when Israel is unfaithful. When he meets the widow, she is at a point of helplessness. When he meets her, he asks for something to eat. The widow first says she has nothing left to give. She has enough for a small piece of bread. In the midst of her lack of food, the prophet asks for food and he says she will not lack. Amazingly, she prepares something and gives it to him. She also discovers that she still has flour and oil. The prophet then stays with the widow and her son. She receives him into her home for a year. The Lord provides for them for a year. She opens the door to the messenger and gives a little of whatever she had to the prophet.
