Isaiah’s Experience With the Angels vs. Our Blessed Mother’s Experience In the first reading, the call of the prophet Isaiah and the Annunciation story in the Gospel, the common theme is to wake-up. The Word must be heard by someone who is awake and alert. Isaiah had a vision as the angels shouted Holy, Holy, Holy. Note how the Mass echoes those words. Today’s Homily initially focuses on the Mass. The prayers are not primarily directed toward Heaven. There are certain exclamations that we say to one-another at Mass. Why? To remind ourselves of the Greatness, the Goodness and the Glory of God. Listen more within the Homily. For Isaiah, the experience of Holiness of God is not only overwhelming, but also terrifying! Wow! Why? To encounter the Holiness of God, is to realize the darkness of his / Isiah’s own heart. As a recognized sinner, Isaiah is unable to endure the presence of Goodness that is so Great! Isaiah thought he was going to die! He is just a man of unclean lips born of a people of unclean lips. He recognizes that without support from Heaven, he cannot endure so great a presence. Understand what happens next by listening to the Homily. Hear about the flame of life. Why did Isaiah say he has unclean lips, and not an unclean heart? Hear how Isiah actions impact the world! Understand how important this scripture story is to us! Its importance in understanding what cleansing means and how it impacts us when we are in the presence of the Lord! Hear the difference between Isaiah’s experience with the angels and Mary’s experience at the time of the Annunciation. Hear more in this Meditation Media.
