How Do We Retain the Word of God?

Om avsnittet

How Do We Retain the Word of God? The Homily begins mentioning the first reading (not included within this audio). The Apostle John has a revelation. Heavenly bodies tell John to pick up a small scroll . . . and eat it. In your mouth it will taste very sweet. Strangely, the Heavenly body then says . . . your stomach will not like it. But, go ahead and eat it. John then eats the scroll. It is indeed pleasant in the mouth, but unsettles the stomach. The Heavenly body then tells John . . . go and prophesy. That is, speak out of the bitterness of your stomach, by means of the sweetness of your mouth. In light of the upcoming Feast Day, Jesus Christ, the King of the Universe (see that Meditation on this site), the Homily goes further into what it means to receive the Word. What really does that mean? Have you ever had the experience of forgetting what was told to you in your daily life? Something told to you in the past . . . yesterday . . . even this morning . . . that may have been forgotten. How many things have we read, but can no longer recall? We all experience this in our daily lives! The Homily also briefly talks about Saints Peter and Paul. The Homily also talks about Jesus driving out the money changers in the temple. Receiving the Word has to be different for Christians. Hear how in our spiritual lives we must receive the Word, and retain it. How? Listen to this Meditation Media.
