The Lord Tells Us Who We Really Are! The Lord Tells Us . . . Today’s Homily revolves around Moses, emphasizing the significance of understanding how scripture begins. In the first reading (not included in this audio), we learn that Moses is married to the daughter of a priest, and at this point, he is not actively seeking God. Instead, he is devoted to taking care of his family and tending to his flock of sheep, much like a shepherd. One day, while leading his father-in-law’s flock to the mountain of God, Moses unknowingly embarks on a journey that will eventually lead him to be entrusted with a people by God. It is interesting to note that Moses wasn’t actively searching for holiness at this moment; he was simply fulfilling his daily responsibilities. When Moses encounters the burning bush on the mountain, it is the Lord who signals and calls out to him. Moses, curious and intrigued, moves closer to investigate. Only then does the Lord speak to him, revealing His identity and purpose. . . . Who We Really Are! It becomes evident that Moses lacks a profound knowledge of God. This proves to be of utmost importance for him and also holds significance for us. As the Homily further explores this story, we gain insights into its impact on our own spiritual journey. Interestingly, the Lord’s calling of Moses was triggered by someone else’s call upon the Lord. This underscores that Moses’ relationship with God is not a private matter but revolves around the Lord’s people. This connection between mission and relationship with the Lord reflects our own relationship as well, which will be elaborated on within the Homily. Listen to this Meditation Media.
