The Impact of All Saints and Our Own Spiritual Prayer Life The Feast of All Saints is a very ancient feast. Early in Christian history it was important to hear the story of early Christians who spilled their blood for the Lord. In Rome the Church was persecuted. The Church was unsure about the survival of any specific member, and therefore gathered below the Coliseum. As the faithful were killed for their faith, their bodies were taken below ground, preserved and kept. The community would often bring the remains into the area where the community would gather for Mass. Hear more about the significance of this custom within the Homily. The custom of taking a relic and having it present during Mass, was not to honor the memory of this special member. The custom materialized because we are at prayer with the martyr. They are singing glory to God in heaven, while we sing the praise of God here on earth. Note the full communion. Hear more on The Impact of All Saints and Our Own Spiritual Prayer Life.
