Hurricane Ian strikes South Carolina as Florida death toll climbs to at least 45

After devastating Florida, Hurricane Ian made landfall near Georgetown, South Carolina as a Category 1 storm. At least 45 people have died in Florida as search and rescue efforts continue in the hardest hit areas. NOAA imagery shows many beach cottages on Sanibel Island completely wiped away by the intense storm surge.
