Throughout my life, I have been interested in World War II. I have read many books, watched movies, listened to radio programs, and so on. Over time, I have come to understand how it all began. When I was a young teenager, I shared a desk at school with a Jewish girl. At that time, I knew very little about Jewish people and their lives. People rarely talked about the war, and in school our history lessons focused mainly on old Swedish kings – when they were born and when they died. For reasons I can not remember, I once asked my classmate about Jews and the War. She began to explain, but then said, “You should read a book about Jews and the war”
Now that I am older, I think perhaps she did not want to talk about herself. The next day, she brought me a book: Exodus written byLeon Uris in 1958. That book sparked my deep interest in World War II.
Here, I would like to present a book about two boys. They were twins, yet they became soldiers in two opposing armies – the German Wehrmacht and the British Army.
