What makes a Happy, Fulfilling Life? Lessons From the World's Longest Scientific Study of Happiness. With Dr. Robert Waldinger

This was such a fun interview — our encore guest today is Dr. Robert Waldinger, a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, a practicing Psychiatrist, Zen Master and author of the book The Good Life, Lessons from the Worlds Longest Scientific Study on Happiness. This study, which began in 1938, reveals what it takes to build a good life. What does that exactly mean, I wondered…fulfilling, satisfying, meaningful, happy? All of it. There's no one size fits all. BUT…the one thing that was consistent? Relationships. All kinds of relationships. The quality of the social connections that we make throughout our lives means everything. He says…Human connection is our superpower. Good relationships help us get through life’s inevitable challenges, and they keep us happier and healthier. and the research shows that they actually help us to live longer. Robert reminds us that we should pay attention to the things that we really care about…the things and people that energize us. AND pay attention to the things and people that deplete us. He shares the keystones of healthy relationships — things like safety security, emotional closeness, fun and relaxation, learning and growth…and there’s more.

Brave New You: What if You Had A Road Map to Believing That More Is Possible? With Cory Allen

Brave New You: What if You Had A Road Map to Believing That More Is Possible? With Cory Allen

Todays guest is Author, Coach, Podcaster and Influencer — Cory Allen. We Discussed his new book, Brave New You, where he presents actionable steps to help us continue to grow and flourish over time. He has so many tidbits of wisdom…some new, some we hear often. Some of the favorites: Taking care of yourself is one of the most important things you can do. Learn to accept your own love, care and admiration. Give yourself what you need so you can show up as your best self. Release resentments or judgements that hold you down. You get it. Great advice on being the very best versions of ourselves. Cory has been a mediator for over 25. His thoughts about mindfulness and meditation are on instagram where he reaches over a million people a week. One of my favorite lines: Reframing your perspective is a powerful move. When you feel stuck or resistant, pause and look for the upside. Shifting your thinking from “I have to do this” to “I get to do this” engages curiosity. This turns every experience into a chance for growth, wisdom, and understanding. As always, we’re Untangle, the podcast from Muse, the brain sensing headband dedicated to unlocking your brains potential AND Meditation Studio the five star app.Unlock 30 days of Meditation Studio for free at choosemuse.com/meditationstudio.  Learn more about your ad choices. Add More Focus and Flow to Your Life with Mental Strength Training. With Cara Bradley

Add More Focus and Flow to Your Life with Mental Strength Training. With Cara Bradley

Today we have a great encore episode with Cara Bradley, a Yoga and mindfulness teacher dedicated to transforming human potential. She’s also a mental strength coach, and the author of the book “On The Verge: Wake Up, Show Up, and Shine”. Her focus is on finding that flow state and on mental fitness. In this discussion, Cara shares many of the strategies and practices she has used with winning athletes, integrating mindfulness practices with mental strength training for college football and basketball players from several universities. I thought this was timely since we just watched the olympics…and I was mesmerized by the amazing ability of the athletes to focus. Cara was an award winning skater in her earlier days…and learned so much about mental training habits during that time. How Unique Sounds Facilitate Deeper Mind States and Levels of Human Consciousness. With Paul Citarella, The Monroe Institute

How Unique Sounds Facilitate Deeper Mind States and Levels of Human Consciousness. With Paul Citarella, The Monroe Institute

Today’s guest is Paul Citarella, Executive Vice President, CTO of The Monroe Institute. This was a very unique conversation for us at Untangle. We discussed how we can explore different levels of human consciousness that range from meditation and expanded awareness to out of body experiences, remote viewing and mediumship. He shared how Monroe Institute’s technology and unique sounds and sound patterns help facilitate deeper mind states and levels of consciousness. Paul shared his personal journey of transformation, and how he came to a deeper understanding of his own life and its purpose for him and his family. The Monroe Institute has different types of programs at all different levels, but it is also an active research hub, where scientists, doctors, and academics work across disciplines to explore the intricacies of human consciousness. We discuss neural entrainment (which he’ll define) and how their sound technology can be used to enhance well-being in a range of ways— reducing stress and anxiety and improving sleep all the way to precipitating a life-changing personal awakening, as Paul experienced himself. It’s pretty interesting stuff. Much of what we discussed feels esoteric, but Paul is so grounded, authentic and intelligent, it all felt very attainable. As always, we’re Untangle, the podcast from Muse, the brain sensing headband dedicated to unlocking your brains potential AND Meditation Studio the five star app. Unlock 30 days of Meditation Studio for free at choosemuse.com/meditationstudioTransform your brain's potential with 15% off Muse. Bonus Sample Episode: What It’s Like To Be, with Dan Heath interviewing a Couples Therapist.

Bonus Sample Episode: What It’s Like To Be, with Dan Heath interviewing a Couples Therapist.

Today we're sharing a sample episode of the podcast we discussed in our episode yesterday, “What It’s Like to Be...” from author Dan Heath. In every episode, Dan interviews someone from a different profession: A cattle rancher, a FBI special agent, a professional Santa Claus. He asks what it’s like to do what they do. What does a couples therapist think when a friend asks for relationship advice? Is a Secret Service Agent supposed to pretend like they’re not there when they’re around the president? What does a hair stylist do when a client asks for a celebrity hairstyle that will never work for them? It is truly the perfect show for curiosity-driven Untangle listeners. If you’ve ever met someone whose work you wondered about, and you had 100 nosy questions but were too polite to ask... this is the show for you.Find “What It’s Like to Be...” wherever you get podcasts. Ever Wonder What It Would Be Like To Walk in Someone Else's Shoes? Check This Out. With Dan Heath.

Ever Wonder What It Would Be Like To Walk in Someone Else's Shoes? Check This Out. With Dan Heath.

Today's guest is Dan Heath, a NYT Bestselling Author of several great books and host of the podcast, What It's Like To Be. He interviews unlikely people, like stadium beer vendors, dog trainers, hairstylists, secret service agents, couples therapists and lots of folks that you might not normally hear on a podcast. His anecdotes about many of these interviews were both poignant and hilarious. Mostly, I love that he's giving us a perspective on different jobs or careers that we might not otherwise ever hear about and sharing the little secrets about how his unlikely guests find deep meaning in their work. Also, it was so clear that we're all different and what might appeal to one of us may not appeal to someone else. For example, we may judge the person who sells beer in a stadium, but they may judge us for sitting in an office all day.So the goal is to each find what lights us up and respect that in each other, whether it be styling hair, or managing money. Different people find purpose in different things, and we find relationships in different places. Dan has learned to have a deep respect for the different choices and different paths we each take. It's really another way to look at empathy even how we think about curiosity versus judgment. It's a super fun interview with lots of great stories. Resource: Danheath.comAs always, we are Untangle, the podcast from Muse the Brain Sensing Headband, dedicated to unlocking your Brain's potential and Meditation Studio, the five star app. Unlock 30 days of Meditation Studio for free at choosemuse.com/meditationstudioTransform your brain's potential with 15% off Muse.
