The Nixon Conspiracy: Watergate and the Plot to Remove the President

Geoff Shepard graduated from Harvard Law School in 1969 and was selected a White House Fellow that same year. Following his fellowship year, Geoff joined John Ehrlichman’s newly-created Domestic Council staff at the Nixon White House, where he served for five years, first as staff assistant and ultimately as associate director. He then served on President Nixon’s Watergate defense team, where he was principal deputy to the lead lawyer, J. Fred Buzhardt. He is the man who transcribed the infamous “smoking gun” tape that forced Nixon to resign and in fact he is the one who named it the smoking gun. He is now considered by many to be the world’s leading voice on the Watergate scandal.
