How to Stop Being Emotionally Reactive

Anxiety makes it hard to control your emotions. Even a random comment or an inconvenience can be overwhelming. Like everyone’s suddenly started pushing your buttons... including the ones you didn’t know you had.

Plus, there’s the black-and-white (well, mostly black) thinking. Do these thoughts seem familiar:

  • “I’ll never get better...”
  • “Why does this always happen to me?”
  • “Am I cursed or something?”

Yes, I know they do.

But here’s the good news: emotional reactivity isn’t your fault. And an even better one: it doesn’t have to stay forever. You just need to learn how to stop avoiding emotions and let them come and go without reacting to them.
