Nick Reiner Case: Alan Jackson Withdraws, Public Defender Steps In — The Warning Signs Everyone Ignored

True Crime Today's week in review covers the Nick Reiner case — the stunning attorney withdrawal and the years of warning signs nobody could act on.

Alan Jackson walked into a Los Angeles courtroom and told the judge he had "no choice" but to withdraw from Nick Reiner's defense. He said circumstances "beyond Nick's control" forced his exit. Sources tell Deadline money is the reason. The pattern that protected Nick for seventeen years — eighteen rehab programs, seventy thousand a month in treatment, a rent-free guesthouse, a ten-thousand-dollar monthly allowance, and sources say estate money funding his defense even after his parents' deaths — appears to be over. Deputy Public Defender Kimberly Greene was informed last night. She met her client for thirty seconds before the hearing. Arraignment postponed to February 23rd.

But we also examined what led here. This wasn't sudden. A neighbor told reporters Nick had been violent before. An LAPD insider confirmed "quite a few calls for service" to the Reiner home over the years. The night before Rob and Michele were found stabbed to death, Nick was reportedly so erratic at Conan O'Brien's Christmas party that guests were unnerved. Rob allegedly told friends that night he was terrified his own son could hurt him.

Bob Motta joined us to break down what law enforcement officers see in the years before tragedies like this — and what California's mental health laws actually allow them to do. The LPS Act requires imminent danger for involuntary commitment. Not probable. Not deteriorating. Imminent. Rob and Michele were legally trapped. For the first time in his life, Nick faces consequences without unlimited resources behind him.

Melodee Buzzard: Families Beg for Help. The Law Says No. Then Someone Disappears. -WEEK IN REVIEW

Melodee Buzzard: Families Beg for Help. The Law Says No. Then Someone Disappears. -WEEK IN REVIEW

In this explosive Hidden Killers feature, Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott dissect the most dangerous phrase in American child-protection law: “imminent danger.” It’s the loophole that leaves families powerless, law enforcement stalled, and children unprotected until tragedy strikes. The Melodee Buzzard case exposes how a slow-moving legal standard allowed a crisis to become a disappearance — even as every red flag was documented in real time. Shavaun reveals how mental-health systems confuse autonomy with safety, how judges hesitate to intervene without physical harm, and how this outdated framework turns compassion into catastrophe. Tony drives the hard questions: Why didn’t anyone step in when relatives begged for help? Why was a missing school record not enough? Why did it take a felony charge to get attention? Together they offer real, actionable solutions — from mobile crisis co-response units to pattern-based legal triggers — that balance civil rights with child safety. This isn’t just commentary; it’s a call for reform. Because if we keep waiting for proof of danger, we’ll keep finding it too late. #HiddenKillers #TonyBrueski #ShavaunScott #MelodeeBuzzard #AshleeBuzzard #TrueCrime #MentalHealthReform #ChildWelfare #SystemicFailure #JusticeForMelodee Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Diddy’s Prison Cocktail Hour: From Cîroc to Toilet Wine-WEEK IN REVIEW

Diddy’s Prison Cocktail Hour: From Cîroc to Toilet Wine-WEEK IN REVIEW

Sean “Diddy” Combs, once the self-crowned king of luxury, has apparently been reduced to the lowest form of intoxication known to man: prison hooch.Reports claim the former mogul was caught with homemade alcohol inside Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution — the kind of foul, bubbling concoction inmates brew in trash bags using fruit, sugar, and desperation.Forget Cîroc. Forget top-shelf anything. What Diddy’s allegedly drinking behind bars is called pruno, better known as toilet wine. It’s made by mashing fruit and ketchup packets, adding water, and letting it rot until the smell alone could peel paint. It’s dangerous, disgusting, and — incredibly — one of the most common contraband “delicacies” in prisons across America. In this episode, Tony Brueski breaks down exactly how inmates make their booze, what they risk to do it, and how it all fits into the bizarre underground economy of prison life. From hand-sanitizer cocktails to coffee-ground highs, this is the unfiltered, unsanitized look at what really happens when the party never stops — even in federal custody. And as for Diddy? The man who once bragged about power and control now looks like every other addict who can’t face silence without a fix. No entourages. No private jets. Just a bag of fermenting fruit under a bunk and the illusion that he’s still the one running the show.Welcome to the new “Bad Boy” era — one that reeks of citrus rot and ego decay.🎙️ Hidden Killers with Tony Brueski — Where the powerful meet their consequences.#Diddy #SeanCombs #PrisonBooze #HiddenKillers #TrueCrime #Pruno #ToiletWine #PrisonLife #CelebrityDownfall #TonyBrueskiWant to comment and watch this podcast as a video?Check out our YouTube Channel. https://www.youtube.com/@hiddenkillerspodInstagram https://www.instagram.com/hiddenkillerspod/Facebook https://www.facebook.com/hiddenkillerspod/Tik-Tok https://www.tiktok.com/@hiddenkillerspodX Twitter https://x.com/tonybpodListen Ad-Free On Apple Podcasts Here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/true-crime-today-premium-plus-ad-free-advance-episode/id1705422872

Inside the Donna & Charlie Adelson’s Appeals : Do They Have A Chance?-WEEK IN REVIEW

Inside the Donna & Charlie Adelson’s Appeals : Do They Have A Chance?-WEEK IN REVIEW

In this extended episode of Hidden Killers with Tony Brueski, we go deep into the quietest chapter yet in the saga of the Adelson family: the appeals. On November 4, 2025, Donna Adelson filed her notice of appeal with Florida’s First District Court of Appeal — one day before her son Charlie filed his reply brief in his own appeal. It marks the moment both mother and son officially stepped into the long, lonely process that almost never changes anything. Tony breaks down what really happens next: how the appellate process works, what judges actually review (hint — not new evidence), and why the odds of success hover around five percent. You’ll hear how appellate courts look only for procedural errors, not moral redemption — and why, for both Donna and Charlie, even a “win” might only shave paperwork, not years, off their sentences. From the mechanics of record transmission to the rare chance of oral argument, Tony lays out the cold reality behind the legal language: this isn’t a new trial — it’s a postscript. The show explores the psychology of defendants who cling to appeals as emotional lifelines, the contrast between hope and finality, and the irony of two people who once manipulated the system now trapped inside it. It’s not flashy. It’s not fast. But it’s justice — moving one slow, relentless step at a time. 🎧 Listen to the full analysis now on Hidden Killers with Tony Brueski. #HiddenKillers #DonnaAdelson #CharlieAdelson #DanMarkel #AdelsonAppeal #TrueCrimePodcast #FloridaJustice #CourtOfAppeal #LegalAnalysis #TonyBrueski #TrueCrimeToday #JusticeSystem #MurderForHire #CriminalAppeal Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Melodee Buzzard & Aaron Spencer: Two Families, Two Failures — What Happens When Justice Doesn’t Protect-WEEK IN REVIEW

Melodee Buzzard & Aaron Spencer: Two Families, Two Failures — What Happens When Justice Doesn’t Protect-WEEK IN REVIEW

Two families. Two nightmares. One broken system. In this Hidden Killers double-feature, Tony Brueski and Bob Motta examine two cases that reveal the same haunting theme — what happens when justice fails. First, they unpack the Melodee Buzzard investigation, where a mother is behind bars but her daughter is still missing, leaving a trail of disguises and unanswered questions. Then, they turn to Aaron Spencer, the Arkansas father accused of second-degree murder after confronting the man previously charged with assaulting his child. Both stories share a chilling common thread: institutions meant to protect the vulnerable didn’t — and ordinary people were left to face the consequences. Bob Motta breaks down the legal mechanics, the prosecutorial framing, and the human cost of a system that too often arrives too late. #HiddenKillers #BobMotta #TonyBrueski #MelodeeBuzzard #AaronSpencer #AshleeBuzzard #TrueCrime #JusticeSystem #VigilanteOrProtector #BrokenSystem Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video?
