Episode 67 - Brian & Eric Barr, Co-Founders of Feeling Swell

Brian and Eric Barr are brothers and Co-Founders of the NJ-based surf brand, Feeling Swell, which is dedicated to de-stigmatizing the conversation about mental health. The Barr brothers grew up in Bridgewater, NJ before their parents decided to live at the Jersey Shore full time. The company name was born when Eric started surfing and would often ask his dad if he was "feeling swell?" With the trademarked brand name in hand, the brothers saw an opportunity to build a brand with a philanthropic mission. However, it was unclear exactly what that mission would be. Once a family member’s experiences with mental illness arose, it became very obvious what Feeling Swell was meant to be and quite a natural fit. Feeling Swell is dedicated to building a brand that inspires individuals to explore their sunny side of life and a become a company that unites communities around delivering the message that it is okay to reach out for help with your mental health. Feeling Swell strives to create happier beach communities by working with many partners to instill optimism, compassion, and self-love while supporting the creation of environments in which individuals are more willing to share their stories and offer support to others.
