Celebrity divorce and the great Instagram lie

Well, it’s been a big week in the world of celebrity divorce after Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum announced their “loving” split to the cries of love being dead. So why is it we feel so viscerally about break-ups like this? Is it because we feel we’ve being sold a lie about what a relationship and a break up looks like? Plus, a radio host’s orgasm story that was a little bit too much to stomach and the atrocity that is Meghan Markle daring to have a grey hair. Zara recommended two pieces from Man Repeller this week, one on love and the beauty of its dullness which you can find here, and another on the concept of a friendship complex which you can find here. If you’re also willing to give Marie Claire a click for that atrocious grey hair article, you can right here. (But don’t tell them we sent you.) And if you haven’t read it, or it’s been a while, check out the history-making Vanity Fair profile of Meghan Markle here. You're so welcome to join the conversation in our Facebook group! Otherwise, you can find us on Twitter, Mich on Insta here and Zara on Insta here. OR get in touch at shamelessthepodcast@gmail.com. And before we go: We're a tiny independent podcast so we would love it if you could leave us a review so other people can stumble on our show. This episode was produced by Zara McDonald. A king is dethroned

A king is dethroned

Good morning, lovely listeners! On today’s show: MICH ISSUES A RUSSELL CROWE-RELATED APOLOGY! Plus Paris Hilton is launching her 27th (... yes, 27th) fragrance and we want to know why there’s still so much hype around celebrity scents. And then, the Youtube drama clusterf**k that’s making its way into the mainstream. This week, Zara recommended consuming any content featuring Glennon Doyle, particularly her episode on ABC’s Conversations. Soooo, remember when Mich read only the misleading headline of an article, mistaking Russell Crowe’s New Zealand slang for Australia’s? Yeah, she’s sorry ‘bout it, and recommends researching stuff better than she did. Thank you so much to today’s sponsor, Garnier. Find out more about their new Rose Water Micellar Cleanser here. Want to be featured on the pod? GUESS WHO’S BAAAACCKKK!? (... Back again. Mich and Zara are back. Tell a friend. Sorry.) On today’s show: Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian may be getting back together and, well… we really hope not. Plus, YouTuber Jenna Marbles says she’s quitting Youtube after past racist videos. So, are we entering an era where celebrities are starting to de-platform themselves? And what do we expect from white influencers from here on in? This week, Mich recommended the show Love Life on Stan. Zara recommended watching Famous in Love on Stan and reading our Shameless Book Club June pick, ‘Girl, Woman, Other’ by Bernardine Evaristo. Thank you so much to today’s sponsor, Garnier. Find out more about their new Rose Water Micellar Cleanser here. ALSO! THE ARCHIVES: Mental health

THE ARCHIVES: Mental health

A BIG, CAPS LOCK HAPPY THURSDAY TO YOU, SHAMELESS PALS! If you haven’t listened to one of these before, this ‘The Archives’ series ventures deep into our backlog of chats to re-visit some of my (Annabelle's) absolute favourite moments of Shameless interviews. Mich and Zara return from their mid-year break on Monday, so this will be the last bonus episode for a little while. Today, we’re talking about mental health. The fact is, a significant portion of the population will be diagnosed with a mental disorder at some point in their life. Yet still, a lot of us find it difficult to talk about our own struggles. What makes it feel a little less lonely, though? Hearing people in the public sphere so honestly share their own stories; stories many might resonate with in one way or another. Today, we hear from: Georgie Dent, Osher Günsberg, Nawal Sari, Brandon Jack, Matt Okine, Abbie Chatfield, Hugh van Cuylenberg, Rosie Waterland, Mitchell Orval, Ash London, Celia Pacquola, Jules Von Hep, and Tanya Hennessy. As for us? Here are all the links your heart desires! Our book-club. Our Insta profile. Our Facebook Group. And our weekly newsletter! Shameless Podcast is very much an independent vehicle that runs on the support of our incredible listeners - that's you! So, if you'd like to support the show, we would like that very much. THE ARCHIVES: Women and the media

THE ARCHIVES: Women and the media

Good morning to you, my friends! It’s Annabelle here! Mich and Zara are on their mid-year break for a couple more weeks (*wipes away a single, dramatic tear*), which means I’ve got a couple more bonus episodes up my sleeve until their return. If you’re unaware, this ‘The Archives’ series ventures back into our backlog of chats to re-visit some of my absolute favourite moments of Shameless interviews. Today’s theme is… women and the media. We’ve had such a diverse bunch of women join us for our In Conversation episodes since 2018; women who are unapologetically themselves in the otherwise very white, very male-dominated Australian media landscape. What’s it been like navigating it as women with varying cultural backgrounds, differing physical abilities, and life experiences? Today, we hear from: Jamila Rizvi, Brooke Blurton, Priya Serrao, Brooke Boney, Melissa Leong, Marlee Silva, Georgie Stone, Carly Findlay, Jess Quinn, Neroli Meadows, Em Rusciano, Georgia Love, Brooke Jowett, and Clementine Ford. As for us? Here are all the links your heart desires! Our book-club. Our Insta profile. Our Facebook Group. And our weekly newsletter! THE ARCHIVES: Success

BOO! IT’S ANNABELLE! WITH A SURPRISE EPISODE! As you might know already, the girls are on their mid-year break for three weeks, so I’ve put together a few bonus episodes of some of my favourite moments of Shameless interviews, to fill the Mich and Zara shaped hole in my podcast feed. (It was selfish of me, really.) Today’s theme is… success. How do some of Australia’s most accomplished people define it? To them, is success about work or family or something else entirely? We hear from past conversations with activists, influencers, entrepreneurs - you name it. In fact, I’ll name them all below and leave links to find their full Shameless interviews there, too. Today’s lineup: Flex Mami, Courtney Act, Dylan Alcott, Emma Isaacs, Cyan Ta’eed, Zoë Foster Blake, Jess Quinn, Marlee Silva, Lana Wilkinson, Georgie Stone, Jules Von Hep, Rosie Waterland, Matt Okine, Clare Bowditch, Jan Fran, and Emma Carey.
