Fact checking a "healing princess"

It’s episode 9! Bloody hell, doesn’t time fly? This week we have a little chat on the announcement of Ali Oetjen as Australia’s newest Bachelorette and our… mixed feelings about it. Also, the problematic wellness influencer who says she treated her precancerous cells naturally, and the glittery phenomenon that is dubbed “the party of the year”, the MET gala. UPDATE: After recording this episode we also received a statement from Dr Brad McKay, a family doctor from East Sydney Doctors, about Sarah Stevenson's claims. He told us: "Promoting a healthy lifestyle is admirable, but believing you’ve healed your cervical dysplasia “naturally” is not grounded in reality... "Your immune system is extremely complex and you really don’t have much control over it. It’s narcissistic to believe that you can heal your cervix with positive thoughts and green smoothies... Declaring that you’ve healed your cervix “naturally” is not only ignorant, but it’s also insulting to those people who have been diagnosed with cervical dysplasia or cervical cancer. It implies that if you require treatment you haven’t prayed hard enough, haven’t thought positively enough, or haven’t eaten the right nutritional supplement. Sometimes bad things happen and it’s not helpful or accurate to play a blame game... "I’m glad to hear that her high grade cervical lesion is now a low grade lesion, but it’s dangerous to recommend others follow a “CIN3 routine” based on her anecdotal experience." As always, you're so welcome to join the conversation in our Facebook group! Otherwise, you can find us on Twitter, follow Michelle on Instagram here, Zara on Instagram here or get in touch at shamelessthepodcast@gmail.com. And before we go: We're a tiny, little independent podcast who rely on YOU GUYS so others can find us. If you have the time, we'd love it if you could subscribe to the show. This episode was produced by Zara McDonald with royalty free music from Bensound.

… Fleabag?

Why hello, everyone! On today’s show: remember the ‘wedding of the century’ that we spoke about last week? Yeah, well… it turns out the groom could be looking at decades behind bars. Plus! Publicist Tree Paine has taken a big old whack at professional celebrity gossiper DeuxMoi, Billie Eilish has called out Variety for ‘outing her’, and friend of the show Dave Galafassi is BACK!!! Then we’re doing a slow news week! This week, Zara recommended reading ‘How millennials learned to dread motherhood’ in Vox. Mich recommended reading a piece in the ABC called ‘Agatha Christie was the most famous detective novelist in the world. Then she found herself at the centre of a mystery’. This episode was audio produced by Annabelle Lee. Big thanks to Dan’s Daily for making this episode possible. Head to dansdaily.com.au now to uncover the next big thing in drinks today. Versailles, aquarium, potato potahto!

Versailles, aquarium, potato potahto!

Hellooooo, everybody! On today’s show: videos of Tommy Fury partying it up with Chris Brown in Dubai are making us feel… a lot of things. The wedding of the century is here and the TikToks are something else, the main takeaways from Kylie Jenner’s interview with Jennifer Lawrence, Diddy has been accused of sexual assault by two more women, and the British podcast that unwittingly cancelled the impending wedding of a major influencer. This week, Zara recommended reading ‘Happily Ever Divorced’ in The Cut. Mich recommended listening to the audiobook version of Green Dot by Madeleine Gray. Just... Justin Timberlake: Part three

Just... Justin Timberlake: Part three

Hey, legends!  Welcome to the third and final part of our series on Justin Timberlake. Just saying his name is enough to elicit a reaction. For some, he’s the hitmaker who turned boy band adoration into pop superstardom. For others, he’s the prime example of everything to dislike in a celebrity. This episode was researched by Eilish Gilligan and audio produced by Annabelle Lee. Big thanks to Lo Bros for making this episode possible.
