This approach, critics say, risks narrowing the scope of the inquiry and creates the perception that protecting political allies is being treated as a higher priority than pursuing a fully independent examination of Epstein’s network, the institutional failures that allowed it to operate, and the government’s handling of the case over multiple administrations.
