Atlas of County Donegal

Ireland's most beautiful county, Donegal has both a vast landscape and a fascinating past. Surprisingly for an area so rich in heritage and culture, there has been no one major work bringing together the great diversity of material written about the county’s history, landscapes and people. Until now that is. This magnificent 600 page book seeks to put Donegal on the map of contemporary Ireland. Contributors are drawn from a wide range of academic disciplines and interest as co-editor Sean Beattie tells us in the audio piece.

Beautifully illustrated with full colour photographs, paintings, charts and other informative illustrations, this would make an ideal present for the Donegal enthusiast be they in Dunedin or Dunkineely.

The launch took place at 6.30pm on the 7th of September in LYIT with Martin McGuinness MLA doing the honours to a capacity crowd. Editors' Biographies

Jim Mac Laughlin B.A. (Hons.), M.A. (Hons), Ph.D. (Syracuse) is an author and geographer whose books include Reimagining the Nation-State; Ireland: The Emigrant Nursery and the World Economy; Travellers and Ireland: Whose Country, Whose History?; Donegal: The Making of Northern County, amongst others. He taught political geography at University College, Cork.

Seán Beattie, B.A., H.D. Ed.,M.Ed., Ph. D. is an historian and current editor of the Donegal Annual. He has written extensively for various historical journals and was conferred with an M.A. honoris causa in 2012 by the University of Ireland, Galway for his contribution to historical research.
