It is exactly 50 years to the day since the Declaration of Independence was approved. The entire country is out celebrating this this massive golden anniversary. Right. And on that exact same day, both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams die. It really is one of the most stunning coincidences in all of American history. I mean, the two biggest surviving architects of the nation passing away exactly on the nation's 50th birthday. It feels like something a Hollywood screenwriter would get fired for writing, right? Because it's just it's just too on the nose. Oh, absolutely. They'd it. And suddenly bolting a massive heavy industrial steam engine to it. Oh, the frame is just going to splinter. Exactly. As the map expanded and the economy accelerated, the sheer weight of this growth caused the executive branch of the government to buckle under the pressure. It really did. Which brings us from the physical expansion of the country straight into the institutional chaos it triggered. And it was chaos. Because we look at the presidency today as this, you know, incredibly fortified, stable institution.
