Ep. 101 - How Seth Stahlmann Built Purpose Through Responsibility Family and Business

In this episode of the Finding Purpose Podcast, Adam sits down with Seth Stahlmann, Regional Director at Tweeds Clothier in Rye, New York, for a conversation rooted in discipline, responsibility, and commitment.

Seth's story is anything but conventional. Raised in Sarasota, Florida as one of seven children in a family with limited means, he began working at just 12 years old—quickly learning the value of effort, time, and self-worth. By 14, he was balancing college coursework with work and creative pursuits, and by 18, he married his middle school sweetheart. A year later, he became a father—stepping fully into adulthood with purpose and urgency.

Today, Seth leads the Tweeds location in Rye, working with high-performing professionals and entrepreneurs to help them look and feel their best through bespoke tailoring. But this conversation goes far beyond suits.

This is about identity.
This is about commitment.
This is about what happens when responsibility becomes the foundation for purpose.

Seth shares how fatherhood pushed him into entrepreneurship, why he walked away from traditional career paths, and how building something meaningful often requires betting on yourself before you feel ready.

What We Discuss
  • Growing up as one of seven children and developing patience, resilience, and responsibility

  • Starting work at 12 years old and entering the digital marketing world early

  • The lesson of "fast, good, cheap — pick two" and how it shaped his mindset

  • Why authenticity matters more than ever in today's digital landscape

  • Moving from Florida to New York and building a business in a new market

  • The importance of community, relationships, and networking in business growth

  • Why entrepreneurship provided more alignment than a traditional corporate path

  • Becoming a father at a young age and how it reshaped his priorities

  • Marriage, commitment, and building a life with intention

  • Seth's journey with faith and returning to it during a time of success

  • The psychology of image, confidence, and how people present themselves

  • Why how you show up physically can impact how others perceive your value

  • The role of trust and relationships in building a sustainable business

  • Why purpose often evolves—and sometimes pushes you in unexpected directions

Key Themes From the Conversation Commitment Creates Depth

One of the most powerful takeaways from this conversation is Seth's perspective on commitment.

In a world where many people avoid long-term decisions—whether in relationships, careers, or personal growth—Seth emphasizes that depth only comes from staying with something long enough to truly understand it.

Without commitment, experiences remain surface-level. With commitment, they become transformative.

Responsibility as a Catalyst for Purpose

Fatherhood became a defining turning point in Seth's life.

It forced him to move beyond exploration and into execution—finding a path that not only fulfilled him but allowed him to provide for his family.

Rather than seeing responsibility as a burden, Seth embraced it as direction.

Authenticity Over Perfection

From his early days in digital marketing to his current work in tailoring, Seth highlights a core truth:

People don't connect with perfection—they connect with authenticity.

In a world filled with noise, shortcuts, and surface-level content, genuine expression and real craftsmanship stand out.

Image, Identity, and Confidence

Through his work at Tweeds, Seth has developed a deep understanding of how presentation impacts perception.

While clothing does not define who someone is, it can influence how they are received—and in many cases, how they feel about themselves.

Confidence is internal, but how you present yourself can either reinforce or undermine it.
