Gerry Duggan and Scott Buoncristiano Interview - The Dark Room

Last time Gerry Duggan was on the show, we were talking about his photography project Timing/Luck and ironically what made me a fan of his work isn't The X-Men or any other of the of great titles and characters he's penned and developed over the years, what made me fall in love with it was a breakdancing skeleton named Walt. You might be asking yourself why that may be. A few years ago I lost one of my best friends to a motorcycle accident and at the time while processing the grief as best I could, Walt dropped in the pages of The Dark Room, a book Gerry cooked up with the uber talented Magic Johnson of comics Scott Buoncristiano. Walt's energy was a mirror image of my friend Tommy's, and it turns out The Dark Room was a project centered around the loss of one of Gerry and Scott's mutual friends so this project has been one of dealing with grief through comedy, and I'm forever grateful to them both for being willing to share that vulnerability with the world. This series will go down as one of my favorite of all time and it was a pleasure to get a chance to pick Gerry and Scott's brains about some of the motivations behind it in advance of the second volume being released later this year.
