742. Andy From That UFO Podcast

(Note: Pre-Recorded, we are sorry to hear the loss of Nick Pope who succumbed to cancer yesterday 4-6-26 ❤️. I did a 9 minute tribute: HERE ) In this episode, Martin Willis speaks with Andy McGrillen of That UFO Podcast for a wide-ranging conversation on the global UFO topic, contrasting perspectives from the United States and the United Kingdom, and the evolving media landscape surrounding the phenomenon. Andy shares the personal sighting from his childhood that sparked his lifelong interest in UFOs, along with how that early experience shaped his curiosity and eventual path into podcasting. The discussion explores why UFO discourse appears heavily centered in the United States, examining differences in government transparency, the role of the Pentagon versus the UK Ministry of Defence, and how media coverage and public engagement differ across both countries. The conversation also dives into the impact of high-profile figures such as David Grusch, whose testimony brought unprecedented mainstream attention to the topic, and how credibility, messaging, and restraint have influenced public perception. Martin and Andy examine the challenges of balancing serious investigation with entertainment in today’s rapidly expanding UFO media space, including the explosion of podcasts and influencer-driven content. They also discuss well-known and debated cases, including the Phoenix Lights, the Tic Tac encounter, and classic incidents like Ariel School, while sharing differing perspectives on controversial figures such as Bob Lazar. Andy also talks about his recently published book, which presents a global overview of UFO cases designed to introduce readers to both famous and lesser-known incidents. Throughout the episode, the discussion remains grounded, thoughtful, and open-minded—exploring not just what we know, but how we interpret what we think we know about the phenomenon. If you enjoy in-depth, balanced conversations on UFOs, this episode offers a compelling transatlantic perspective on one of the most enduring mysteries of our time. That UFO Podcast website: https://www.thatufopodcast.com
