Summary

Episode 418 covers a wide range of Apple ecosystem updates with Dave Ginsburg joined by Jeff Gamet, Marty Jencius, and Jill McKinley.

The show begins with Vision Pro, including the latest visionOS 26.5 beta, which brings incremental improvements, and a key development: Apple Business Essentials now supports Vision Pro. This signals Apple's growing push into enterprise and device management for spatial computing.

A major highlight is the release of a $30,000 immersive camera designed for Vision Pro content creation. While clearly aimed at professionals, it underscores Apple's long-term commitment to immersive media and high-end production workflows.

The discussion turns serious with news of a tragic accident during the filming of an immersive video project. The panel reflects on the risks involved in high-intensity filming and the broader implications for this emerging medium.

On the Mac side, the MacBook Neo continues to dominate conversation. Demand has exceeded expectations, prompting Apple to significantly increase production. The panel explores how the Neo is disrupting the market, especially as competitors like Microsoft raise prices on their Surface lineup. There's also discussion around AI workloads driving demand for Apple silicon devices like the Mac mini.

Google enters the mix with the release of its Gemini app for macOS, completing the trio of major AI platforms with native Mac apps. The panel discusses usability, competition, and privacy concerns tied to AI adoption.

Regulatory confusion around a proposed U.S. router ban sparks debate, with questions about security, transparency, and how these decisions are communicated.

Additional topics include a new event-focused music app called Wedding Player, improvements to Apple Watch repair processes in stores, and a redesigned YouTube Music interface.

The episode wraps with excitement around Macstock 2026, including expanded programming and special guest appearances.
