Phil Spector: Fame, Madness and Murder

This week on Dead Famous, we take a sharp turn away from beloved stars and tragic downfalls into something much darker — the life and crimes of legendary music producer Phil Spector.

The man behind the revolutionary “Wall of Sound” helped shape modern music, working with some of the biggest names of the 20th century and producing era-defining hits that changed pop forever. But behind the genius was a deeply troubled, increasingly isolated man whose behaviour had long terrified those around him.

In February 2003, actress Lana Clarkson was found dead in Spector’s mansion from a gunshot wound to the mouth. What followed was one of Hollywood’s strangest and most disturbing murder cases — complete with bizarre courtroom behaviour, stories of intimidation and weapons, and a disgraced music icon insisting her death was “an accidental suicide”.

This is the story of extraordinary success, paranoia, control, violence, and the shocking final collapse of a man once regarded as one of the greatest producers in music history.

Just a warning: this episode contains discussion of murder, firearms, coercive behaviour and disturbing crime scene details throughout.
