#208 - Abbey Holmes - The Queen of Footy Broadcasting

Abbey Holmes is a broadcaster, TV & Radio Personality, Former AFLW player & contestant on SAS Australia & Survivor...and let's face it, Friday Night Footy wouldn't be the same without Abbey!

What a thrill it was for us to have Abbey join us in the studio to share her inspirational story, rise in the media and lift the lid on behind the scenes of her various roles.

She shared her unorthodox entry into the broadcasting landscape which involved an incredible amount of persistence and extreme drive to continually pay her own way to fly half way across the country just to get a foot in the door.

We hear about the early years which helped her climb the ladder with a little help from her real estate days and of course the media storm that followed her kicking 100 goals in a season and a subsequent entry into the famous legends game!

Outside of her incredible rise, we get a glimpse behind the channel 7 cameras for her game day preparation, relationships with team members and of course what happens when things don't go to plan on live television. And who could forget when the lights went out at the Gabba!

Abbey also shares her thoughts on broadcasting and how building real relationships with players helps them feel comfortable to show more personality and the overall direction we're going. Plus, her thoughts on the ridiculous media storm the followed the infamous kiss on the cheek with Lachie Neale.
