Episode 87: What Do You Do When You Feel Like You Blew It?

You messed up.
You lost your temper.
You fell back into something you said you were done with.
You didn’t show up how you wanted to.

And now the voice in your head says,
“This is who you are.”
“You’re not growing.”
“You’re a fraud.”

So what do you do when you suddenly feel like you suck?

In this episode, we talk about the tension every believer feels — the war inside of us.

Paul describes it in Romans 7:
“Why do I do the things I don’t want to do? And the things I want to do, I don’t do.”

That tension is real.
Romans 6 reminds us we are no longer slaves to sin.
Romans 7 shows us the internal battle.
Romans 8 reminds us there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.The problem is not that you feel the tension.
The problem is when you let the tension define you.It is easier to identify with your failure than with your identity in Christ.
It is easier to say “I am my mistake” than to say “I am a child of God.”But your worst moment does not get the final word.Failure can refine you.
It does not get to define you.
