261 - Pocono: Lift or Wreck

Brett Griffin, Freddie Kraft and T.J. Majors return from Pocono Raceway after a weekend filled with action-packed racing. Brett explains why he allegedly was suspended from Door Bumper Clear and shares a story about a bartender having a crush on a certain spotter. Then, they discuss Ty Gibbs filling in for Kurt Busch after having concussion symptoms and why it’s important for drivers to make their health a priority.

Spot On, Spot Off starts with the spotters discussing Ross Chastain wrecking after racing Denny Hamlin for the lead on a late restart. They explain why Chastain could have avoided wrecking and potentially stole the win. Then, they debate if Hamlin is even with Chastain.

Hamlin and Kyle Busch were disqualified after finishing 1-2 in the Cup Series race. Find out the cause of the disqualification and if NASCAR should change their inspection process to start looking for similar infractions.

Next, Kyle Busch had a cold reaction to Joe Gibbs after the race on Sunday following a week of chatter regarding his contract negotiations. The guys react to Toyota’s comments and why they feel Busch was being disrespectful to his team owner. Brett leads the discussion of why Busch only has two realistic options if he wants to keep driving for a top-level team next year.

Denny Hamlin said 23XI Racing will hire its own pit crew members for next year instead of leasing crews from JGR. The gang discusses whether or not this is the best business decision for Hamlin to make.

Then, a leaked document indicates NASCAR is planning a demonstration using prototype electric vehicles before next year’s Clash at the LA Coliseum. The crew questions how long electric cars would hold up at big tracks, how quickly will they be implemented, and which series would run them.

With the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course coming up next, the guys revisit Kevin Harvick’s comments about how the road course is “terrible for our sport.” They talk about why the oval configuration should get another chance and if they should run a different aero package to do so.

Finally, the spotters react to Austin Dillon’s comments about having TJ as his spotter for the Indy Xfinity Series race. They discuss Brandon Brown having to step out of his car to sell sponsorship and how the “Let’s Go Brandon” ordeal has negatively affected the team’s finances.

In Reaction Theatre, hear fan reactions to Noah Gragson throwing up and then chugging a beer after his victory, whether or not Hamlin purposely wrecked Chastain, and the top two finishers getting disqualified.

Later in the show, T.J. answers a call from a big name former driver who has a few questions for the guys after the dramatic weekend at Pocono.
