266 - Daytona II: Reckless Action

Door Bumper Clear is back from the dramatic Daytona International Speedway Cup Series playoff cutoff race weekend. Brett Griffin and Freddie Kraft begin the show talking about T.J. Majors missing the start, Brett cursing on the broadcast, drivers taking hard hits, and more.

First topic in Spot On, Spot Off, the guys discuss Kurt Busch forfeiting his playoff waiver ahead of the race at Daytona. They talk about how that affected the last playoff spot race between Ryan Blaney and Martin Truex Jr. and how it put Toyota at a disadvantage.

Next, NASCAR says they couldn’t have done anything differently before the field wrecked because of rain in Turns 1 and 2. They explain why NASCAR should have thrown the caution before the cars entered Turn 1 and how close the rain was to the track.

Kevin Harvick argued he was ahead of Austin Dillon when the caution was thrown and should have been listed as the leader during the red flag. The crew debates if NASCAR should have considered him involved in the wreck causing him to forfeit his running spot. They then explain why NASCAR waited out a lengthy rain delay for the final 20 laps and why it mattered for the integrity of the playoffs.
