Laura Meeks | Retired Bomber Pilot Shares Journey and Trans Military Reality

In this powerful episode of Hot Spots with Kay Brown, retired B-52 bomber pilot Laura Meeks shares her remarkable life story and her perspective on the challenges facing transgender Americans today. Laura reflects on growing up in a traditional family, building a successful Air Force career, and discovering her transgender identity while serving overseas. She opens up about the emotional complexity of transitioning, the unwavering support of her wife Annie, and the profound relief of finally living authentically. Laura and Kay also examine the Trump administration’s renewed attacks on transgender rights — particularly the ban on trans service members and restrictive passport policies — and the harm these decisions cause for individuals, families, and national security. Laura highlights the dangers of political scapegoating, the importance of resisting bullying tactics, and why standing firm is essential to defending democracy. Her story is one of courage, love, resilience, and a call for collective action.
