DCS, Reentry, and the Road Home: A Conversation with Georgia’s Department of Community Supervision

What happens after someone leaves prison or jail? What does it mean to be “on paper,” and how does community supervision affect a person’s ability to rebuild their life?

In this episode of Conversations with Daisy Jones, Daisy sits down with James A. Butler, MPA, Senior Lead Community Coordinator with the Georgia Department of Community Supervision’s Reentry Services Division, and Dominique Drummond, Assistant Chief Community Supervision Officer for the Eastern Circuit.

Together, they discuss the role of the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, how supervision and reentry services work hand in hand, and the partnerships that help individuals successfully transition back into their communities. The conversation explores the realities of being under supervision, the challenges many returning citizens face, the balance between accountability and support, and why successful reentry matters to public safety.
