#306 - Majak Daw - From the Darkest Moment to Footy's Most Inspiring Comeback

Majak Daw is a former AFL player, speaker and author. He is the first African-born AFL player who played 54 games for North Melbourne.

WARNING: This episode contains strong themes of suicide, please listen with caution.

It was an honour to have Majak join us in the studio to bravely share his incredible story and emotional story.

Maj is about to share with you a story that will blow your mind. From physically seeing missiles and escaping war-torn Sudan to starting a new life in Australia, it is something nearly all of us can't comprehend.

He shares what it was like finding Aussie Rules Football and his journey to becoming the first African-born AFL player.

But in December 2018, Majak had a very public suicide attempt that saw him sustain horrific injury. Maj shares the lead up to the moment, the instant regret he felt, how he was rescued and what he learnt from the experience.

His long road back to playing AFL is inspiring, and you'll go behind the scenes in the work he had to do and discovering how much he meant to so many of his teammates.

It is a brave and emotional story which is hard to listen to, but is full of so much hope that we hope you'll see the brightness in.

We celebrate the other moments of Maj's career like his friendships with North royalty, the relationship with Brad Scott, that debut, THAT speedos photo and of course Man vs Majak!

This episode has a lot in it and we can't wait for you to be inspired and moved by Maj's story.

Enjoy the great, Majak Daw!
