The secret of why your cyber security sucks balls! (And why it's not your fault)

Your cyber security isn't very good. But don't panic! We can easily fix that.

Mark from m3 Networks explains why you as the decision maker have the power to overcome your ball sucking cyber security!

Getting the right information for securing your business through cyber security

As a business owner or the person responsible for IT in the business, it is your responsibility to ensure that the business has the right IT systems in place so that their product or service can be delivered to customers.

This starts with getting the basics right, such as having the correct internet connection, bespoke hardware, fast wi-fi, and up-to-date software and cloud applications.

In order to make an informed business decision, it is important that the correct information is presented in a way that can be understood.

As the business owner, you have the knowledge and expertise to understand the needs of your business and customers, and use this to make decisions.

Just as you would rely on an accountant to understand and present financial reports, you should make use of the IT experts to provide you with the information you need to make decisions in relation to IT.

It is not uncommon to hear people say they do not understand technology and want to avoid having the conversation.

However, with the right knowledge and guidance, it is possible to make decisions based on sound information.

With the right information presented in a way that can be understood, you can take the right steps towards securing your business with quality cyber security.

And that's exactly what this episode is all about.

Why your IT company should not blame YOU for your lack of cyber security protection!

It is easy to blame customers for not spending money on up-to-date cyber security protection, especially as cyber-attacks are becoming more and more frequent.

However, it is important to remember that when a customer does suffer from an attack, it will be a major inconvenience for both them and the IT company.

Statistics, such as the fact that businesses are more likely to suffer from a cyber attack than a fire, fail to emphasise the true severity of when an attack does occur.

There's no emotional connection to the problem yet.

The IT company is simply seen as trying to 'upsell' services.

As a customer, your lack of cyber security protection is due to your IT company's inability to educate you

Until the customer has experienced the pain of a cyber attack, they simply don't understand the need for quality cyber security protection!

But what many IT companies fail to realise is that the lack of cyber security is not the fault of the customer, but their own.

Too often, IT companies make the assumption that just because they've presented information to the customer, they're now aware of the risks and the solutions.

And they assume the customer's now equipped with knowledge to make a sensible decision about the level of protection they're hiring, and that they're simply choosing not to do so.

But the reality is that they may not have the technical knowledge to understand the issue or the solutions.

So it's really important that IT companies not only present the right information, but also make sure that it is explained in a way that the customer can understand, so that they can make the right decisions in terms of cyber security protection.
