In this evening's update with Riley, we bring you the latest news from Torrevieja and the wider Alicante province.

We start with fantastic environmental news as reservoirs in the Segura River basin reach 60% capacity, marking the highest water levels seen since 2015.

However, a political battle looms as proposed government updates threaten to cut the Tagus-Segura water transfer by half, impacting thousands of local agricultural jobs.

Closer to home, Torrevieja Council confirms that its operation to remove all chickens and roosters from public streets is well underway and will conclude after the summer.

Meanwhile, Orihuela City Council is launching a major summer recruitment drive today, offering 61 temporary jobs to boost street cleaning and waste collection services from June.

In Alicante, the political opposition is demanding urgent regulations for tourist tuk-tuks following a legal vacuum and ongoing friction with local taxi services.

Finally, we cover the dramatic arrest of two men on the Orihuela Costa following a high-speed police pursuit through Villamartín and La Zenia, which ended in a head-on collision with a Guardia Civil vehicle and the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of marijuana.
