(Where do you go to my lovely) a well know song brings to mind the manipulation tactics used by covert narcissists to reap narcissistic supply and bring their targets/intimate partners totally under their control. The partner of a covert narcissist appears to their loved ones as not having altered in their outward identity presentation but their soul seems to have disappeared. It is such a hard phenomenon to describe as it’s such an elusive idea to attempt to structure with tangible substance. Targets of narcissists often think they are happy in the relationship initially but are tricked into a very illusory reality similar to an intoxicated state. In this state logic evades them and their loved ones often can’t figure out where their soul, essence and spirit have disappeared to, they seem inaccessible. The bubble existence or matrix created by the narcissist is systematically feeding off their current supply target/host while at the same time imprisoning them in a somewhat emotionally and psychologically drugged reality.
