He Stole My Evidence

In Episode 88 of After the Quiet, I share the moment I realized that nowhere felt safe anymore. After secretly documenting months of coercive control, gaslighting, and emotional abuse in a notebook hidden in my car, it suddenly disappeared while I was attending an MRI appointment. To this day, I don't know how he knew it existed, but it reinforced the overwhelming feeling that I was constantly being watched.

As the abuse escalated, he demanded my phone before work, claimed it had been examined by a private investigator, and insisted there was evidence of affairs that he could never produce. Every accusation left me trying to prove my innocence while my own reality slipped further away.

Unable to cope with the relentless stress, I couldn't bring myself to go home after work. Instead, I parked in a store parking lot and reached out using public Wi-Fi. He responded by calling the police. That night became a turning point as I admitted I could no longer live under the constant fear, surveillance, and psychological abuse.

This episode explores coercive control, surveillance, stalking behaviours, gaslighting, emotional abuse, false accusations, psychological manipulation, and the devastating toll prolonged abuse can take on a person's mental health. It is a deeply personal story about reaching a breaking point—and surviving it.
