Samson

Delilah’s smooth words lulled him to sleep—literally and spiritually. Eventually he revealed his secret, lost his strength, and woke up not knowing the Spirit had departed. His eyes were plucked out, and he was reduced to grinding in captivity.

Lesson: Sin always blinds, binds, and grinds.

David

A man after God’s own heart, yet one lazy evening away from battle led him to Bathsheba. Instead of repenting, he tried to cover it up—manipulating Uriah, then arranging his death. Nathan confronted him: “Thou art the man.”

Lesson: Hidden sin always surfaces, and cover‑ups multiply consequences.

Solomon

The wisest man who ever lived, granted peace and prosperity. Yet even wisdom couldn’t protect him when he tolerated sin. Foreign wives turned his heart, and he eventually participated in idolatry so dark it involved child sacrifice to Molech.

Lesson: Wisdom without obedience becomes corruption.

The sermon closes with a sober reminder: sin is a loaded weapon—cocked, hair‑triggered, and deadly. Preventative maintenance means staying alert, staying in battle, staying repentant, and refusing to flirt with anything that dulls spiritual senses.
