Did Anyone Around D4vd Ever Ask Celeste's Age?

Strip out the forensics for one segment. Prosecutors allege Burke connected with Celeste online, through gaming, while he was still in high school in Texas. Deputies would eventually stand in front of him and tell him her age out loud. The machine around him never blinked.

A homeschooled kid. Gospel music only until thirteen. An entire social world that existed on a screen. A mother who told him to quit complaining about copyright strikes and make something of his own. A record deal at seventeen while he was still in high school.

And then the alter ego. Burke named him Itami, which means pain, and described him publicly as an agent of chaos — an evil version of himself who commits the murders that Burke's detective character then has to solve. He compared it to Fight Club without anyone prompting him.

He filmed the character holding a bloody knife. He animated the character taking a woman's arm. He released a video in which he drags a body and puts it into a car.

Now hold the other side of it, because it is a real argument. Artists make violent work constantly. It proves nothing on its own. Nobody is a killer because they wrote a song.

Except prosecutors allege this man did what the character did.

So the live question is where dark art ends and something else begins, and whether an industry that valued this young man in the millions and sold his darkness as a brand owns any piece of what came next.

Burke has pleaded not guilty and denies all wrongdoing. Celeste Rivas Hernandez was fourteen. Come argue about it.
