Lindsay Clancy Signed Herself Out And Told NOBODY

Patrick Clancy learned in a courtroom that his wife had asked to be discharged from a psychiatric hospital weeks before their three children died.

He had brought her in himself on New Year's Eve 2022, after she told him she was having intrusive thoughts about hurting the children. She went to McLean in the early hours of January 1. She was out on January 5.

Tony Brueski and retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke break down what that stay involved and what the family was never told.

From the stand, Patrick said he was unaware she had requested the discharge. He said he was unaware she had been offered one-on-one therapy every day she was there, and unaware she had declined further group therapy. He testified that from what she described, it had not seemed like she was getting treatment, and that a weekend plus a holiday delayed her first doctor visit.

Asked about an insurance question raised in the case, his answer was blunt. He said he would not have cared and would have paid anything.

The reason she wanted to leave was Cora's fifth birthday party on January 7. Cora died on January 24.

Dreeke, a retired FBI Special Agent with twenty-one years assessing truthfulness under pressure, explains what a hospital can verify when a patient says the thoughts have stopped.

Cora was five, Dawson was three and Callan was eight months old. The trial is expected to run six to eight weeks, and the clinicians involved in her care are on a witness list approaching two hundred names.
