After five days of preliminary hearing testimony that included DNA evidence, purchase records for chainsaws and body bags, and a twenty-one-minute timeline on the night Celeste Rivas Hernandez disappeared, defense attorney Blair Berk made moves the prosecution didn’t expect. She pressed the medical examiner on self-inflicted wounds. She introduced messages from Celeste. She highlighted three chainsaws that tested negative for blood.
