Why Patrick Clancy Became The State's First Witness

Prosecutors in the Lindsay Clancy trial had their pick of witnesses to open with. They chose the father of the three children she's accused of killing, and built their first afternoon in court around a bag of nine pill bottles.
Patrick Clancy had to describe Cora, Dawson, and Callan to the jury before anyone mentioned January 24, 2023. Then a prosecutor read him the counts on nine prescription bottles, one at a time, and asked how much was missing from each. The state says a woman who barely touched her prescriptions can't turn around and blame them. The defense points to thirteen prescriptions written by multiple prescribers across four months, with nobody connecting the pattern until it was too late.
