Nero Caesar? The Historical and Archaeological Evidence

Was the identification of Nero Caesar as 666 invented by modern scholars, or does it rest on centuries of historical, linguistic, and archaeological evidence? In this episode, Jay Rogers answers some of the most common objections to identifying Nero as the Beast of Revelation.

Why was the number calculated in Hebrew rather than Greek?

Why did later Christians lose sight of the connection?

And does any archaeological evidence actually support the famous "Neron Kaiser" calculation?

By examining ancient manuscripts, the 666/616 textual variants, early Christian history, Hebrew gematria, and the Murabba'at papyrus, this study explores whether Revelation's most famous number was a first-century code that its original audience would have immediately recognized. Topics covered include:
• The Hebrew spelling of Neron Kaiser
• Why 666 works in Hebrew but not Greek
• The significance of the 616 manuscript variant
• Archaeological evidence from the Murabba'at papyrus
• Ancient numerical riddles and gematria
• Nero Caesar and the Beast of Revelation
• How historical context changes our understanding of biblical prophecy

If Revelation was written to first-century Christians living under Roman persecution, the mystery of 666 may be far less mysterious than many assume.
