"I Believe the OPP Know Who Killed Barbara Chapman." Plus: Louisa Dunn Is Next. | Mini

Kevin wraps up the Barbara Chapman two-part series — and makes his first declarative statement of the international summer series.

He's been careful throughout both Barbara Chapman episodes not to speculate. No wild claims, no overreach. That's been his policy since day one. But in this mini, he breaks from that stance and says it directly: he believes the Ontario Provincial Police know who killed Barbara Chapman, and he believes the November 2024 Northern Ontario witness appeal was a geographically targeted ask designed to compel information from someone who either is the perpetrator or is close to the perpetrator. He could be wrong. He says that plainly. But the specificity of that appeal — hundreds of kilometers from where Barbara was murdered in 1984 — tells him the OPP have something and are working toward a close.

Now: the summer series heads to the UK.

The next case is the 1967 murder of Louisa Dunn — and it's a different kind of episode for the Midnight Mystery Archive. Kevin spends most of his time on missing persons and unsolved cases. Louisa Dunn's murder was eventually solved. Part 1 drops this Friday, August 8th. Part 2 the following Friday, August 15th. Kevin says it's a compelling story from a different angle than anything MMA has covered before.

On the book front: Echo 1953, The Hollis Files Book 1, launched last Monday, July 27th, and is available on Amazon in Kindle format, Kindle Unlimited, and paperback ($14.99). Kevin walked through the writing process — four months in evenings around the podcast, feedback from his wife, a copy editor pass, and now out in the world. Early readers on Goodreads and Amazon have been enthusiastic. He's also already deep into drafting Book 2, which continues the story of Eli and Mari and their search for answers in the Lena Monroe case.

A note on Witness Wednesday: Kevin is pausing WW while he rethinks the format. His interview with Crystal Dunahey was a difficult conversation, and it's not something he wants to continue doing casually. He says Witness Wednesday will be back — just in a different form. No return date announced.
