Spoon discusses how growing up feeling responsible for other people’s emotions left her vulnerable to a predator who began grooming her at 13, and how that experience influenced her ideas about sex, love, relationships, and what it meant to be a woman. She also examines her years in modeling, addiction, her struggle with self-worth, and the relationship that finally forced her to recognize how often she had abandoned her own needs to keep someone else. Through recovery, Spoon began questioning the stories she had been given, slowing relationships down, paying attention to actions instead of words, and building an identity based on what she actually values.
