No Victor, No Vanquished": Adeleke Appeals for Peace Among Contestants After Vote

Governor Ademola Adeleke has reached out to his adversaries in the Osun governorship election, inviting them to collaborate with his administration for the benefit of the populace.
Adeleke made this statement during his address to the citizens of Osun State, shortly after being declared the victor of the August 15 governorship election.

“Osun State is on the march again. We shall expand development and widen the net of good governance. In this race, there is no victor and no vanquished. I extend my olive branch to my co-contestants,” he said during the address on Sunday in Osogbo. “I am the governor of all Osun people. My vision is to take Osun from a civil service state to an industrial state and an investment destination. Congratulations to Osun people and to all supporters of good governance.”

Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, triumphed over his nearest competitor, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), securing a second term as governor of the South-West State. According to the Returning Officer for the election, Joshua Ogunwole, who announced the results at the INEC Collation Centre in Osogbo, the incumbent garnered 511,067 votes to secure another four-year term.
Oyebamiji from the APC received a total of 444,815 votes, while Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) finished in third place with 17,180 votes.

“For that, Adeleke Ademola Jackson of the Accord Party, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and is hereby returned elected,” Ogunwole said while announcing the final results.
For the Osun governor, the victory has “deepened” his faith in democracy as he paid tribute to those who supported his bid for another term in office. “To all lovers of democracy, I thank you for supporting our struggle. From home and abroad, the support is overwhelming. My faith in democracy is deepened,” the governor said.

“Most importantly, I thank the media for standing by me—by us. The constant coverage in support of democracy emboldened us, and we are grateful.” Adeleke was initially elected as the governor of Osun State in 2022 representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Nevertheless, he departed from the party in December 2025 while seeking a return ticket to the Bola Ige House in Osogbo.
