Murder in Room 1046: The Strange Death of Roland T. Owen

Murder in Room 1046: The Strange Death of Roland T. Owen

Room 1046 is one of America’s strangest unsolved true crime cases: a young man checked into the President Hotel in Kansas City under the name Roland T. Owen, only to be found brutally attacked the next day.

In this episode, we investigate the 1935 President Hotel murder, the false identity trail, the mysterious phone calls, the missing clothes, the note to “Don”, the name Louise, and the later discovery that Roland T. Owen was really Artemis Ogletree. Nearly ninety years later, the Room 1046 mystery remains a cold case full of clues, contradictions, and one very unsettling final claim: that nobody had harmed him.

Topics Include

  • The President Hotel in Kansas City in January 1935
