I want to do what you do; where do I start?

I want to do what you do; where do I start?

Louis’ main message is that there is no single, linear path to finding a career or purpose. Using his own life in audio and electronics repair as an example, he explains that he started in one place, wandered through several unrelated jobs and internships, and only gradually discovered what he was actually good at and enjoyed. Many of the opportunities that shaped his career came from random experiences, side jobs, bad fits, and unexpected connections rather than from a carefully planned roadmap.

His final point is that this is especially true in his industry, where there is no official path because manufacturers do not support independent repair work. Since the field itself is built on improvisation and problem-solving, people entering it need to experiment, build their own path, and accept uncertainty. In short: start anywhere, keep moving, and let experience reveal your purpose.
