Fall Asleep to The Ancient Secret Rituals Mystery

For nearly two thousand years, the most important religious experience in the ancient Mediterranean was a secret. At Eleusis, outside Athens, thousands of people walked a stone road every autumn, fasted, drank a barley mixture, and entered a great hall carved into a hillside. Something was shown to them. Something was said. Something was done. Cicero called it the greatest gift Athens gave humanity. Sophocles said the initiated would dwell in light while the uninitiated lay in darkness.
