Ariana Grande Biography Flash: Petal Drops O2 Farewell and Ricky Reunion

Ariana Grande Biography Flash a weekly Biography. Ariana Grande is closing out a landmark chapter in her career and personal life over the past few days, with London’s O2 Arena as the emotional center of the story. Forbes reports that her Eternal Sunshine Tour is now down to its final shows, a short but hugely successful run that has pushed her entire catalog back up the UK charts, with older hits like 34+35 and newer material from her eighth studio album Petal reentering physical singles rankings, and all eight of her studio albums appearing somewhere on the UK charts. According to Universal Music and coverage summarized by Ad-hoc News, Petal was released worldwide July 31 as the direct follow-up to Eternal Sunshine, and is already being framed as a major career pivot, executive produced with longtime collaborator Ilya and issued via her Babydoll Music imprint under Republic Records. In London, Ariana’s live residency has become a biographical hinge point. MyLondon reports that fans spotted her limping through parts of her recent O2 shows, prompting concern, and that her team has confirmed she plans to step back from the public eye after the tour due to “endless, ongoing public scrutiny.” London Box Office notes she has officially withdrawn from the 2027 West End revival of Sunday in the Park With George opposite Jonathan Bailey, a significant retreat from what would have been a high-profile theatre role, reinforcing this planned visibility break. Emotionally, the last few days have been defined by loss and love. Following Dolly Parton’s death at 80 on August 25, outlets like MEAWW and WFMS report that Ariana honored the country icon during her O2 residency by playing a video of Parton performing I Will Always Love You before her show, turning a pop spectacle into a quiet memorial moment. On the personal side, Geo.tv describes a viral backstage clip from her Eternal Sunshine show in London where she runs into boyfriend Ricky Alvarez and embraces him, one of the clearest public displays since their rekindled romance went Instagram official earlier in August, as detailed by Hola. That reunion, a decade after their first relationship and post–Ethan Slater, is shaping up as a major long-term narrative beat in her love life. Legally and professionally, Ground News reports that Ariana has just secured court approval in Los Angeles to fast-track subpoenas aimed at identifying hackers behind leaks of her unreleased music, signaling a more aggressive stance in protecting her work. And in the broader pop ecosystem, InMusicBlog notes Olivia Rodrigo has publicly praised Petal and said she’d love to cover a song from the album, cementing Ariana’s influence on the next generation of stars. On social media, Them reports that Ariana recently slammed President Trump’s campaign TikTok for using her song We Can’t Be Friends in an anti-trans message, commenting “Never use my music again” and calling the statement false, before the track was removed from the post. That intervention fits a long-running pattern of her using her platform to push back against political messaging she views as harmful, and could echo through future discussions of her activism. There are ongoing fan speculations about the precise reasons for her limping and the extent of her planned retreat after September 1, but beyond the confirmed plan to step back from visibility, detailed motives remain unverified and should be treated as conjecture unless tied to official statements.
