Ezekiel 19–23 | One to Stand in the Gap

In this Sleepy Scriptures One-Year Bible episode, we continue through the book of Ezekiel with chapters 19 through 23 from the King James Version.

Ezekiel laments the fall of Judah’s princes, recounts Israel’s long history of rebellion, and warns that Jerusalem’s persistent unfaithfulness is bringing judgment near. Through vivid poetry, parables, and prophetic imagery, the Lord exposes the ways His people have forgotten Him while placing their confidence in idols, alliances, and human strength.

Yet within these solemn chapters, we also hear why God acts: that His holy name may be known, and that His people may remember Him. In chapter 22 comes one of Ezekiel’s most striking declarations—the Lord searches for someone who will “stand in the gap” before Him for the land.
