Biography

Professor Cornfield has held various positions in the financial services industry and continues to serve as the volunteer Director of Student and Emerging Advisors for Kingdom Advisors. Kingdom Advisors is an organization of Christian financial advisors who agree to intentionally integrate what God’s word says about money and finances into their own lives and teach this to their client/students. After beginning his career at Morgan Stanley in 1984, he spent 24 years at Merrill Lynch, retiring in 2018. Over the course of his career, he developed a deep passion for holistic financial planning, focusing on incorporating biblical wisdom into his advice. Kurt was instrumental in developing the first CFP Board-registered program that integrated biblical wisdom into the coursework. Through this program, graduates of Liberty’s program are prepared to pursue both the Certified Financial Planner™ and Certified Kingdom Advisor™ designations. Kurt is passionate about encouraging all students and emerging advisors to pursue biblical wisdom in their advising careers. Kurt was recently honored at the Kingdom Advisors national conference in Orlando, FL to receive the Larry Burkett Award to recognize the work God has done through Kurt at Liberty University and Kingdom Advisors. Kurt has been married to Nancy for 43 years and they have three children, Kyle, Kirstin and Kari, their spouses, Julieanne, Ben and Matt, and three grandchildren, Jude, Audrey and Ruby. Kurt and Nancy reside in Lynchburg, VA and love the outdoors, including hiking and running.
