Caleb Flynn Trial Day 1: Officer Giampapa Finds WHAT Open?

Officer Alexandra Giampapa’s testimony gave jurors another look at the first police response inside the Flynn home — including an open garage door leading outside and body-camera footage showing officers clearing the property.

Giampapa, an officer with the Tipp City Police Department, testified that she and another officer cleared the garage during the response at the home where Ashley Flynn was found dead on February 16, 2026. While doing so, Giampapa said they discovered a door in the garage that was open to the outside.

She then continued checking and clearing other areas of the house. Giampapa also testified that she checked on the minor children who were inside the home as officers worked through the scene.

EMS personnel arrived during that response. Ashley’s mother, Jill, then took the children from the home.

Prosecutors played Giampapa’s body-camera footage for the jury, allowing jurors to see portions of the police response rather than relying only on testimony about what officers encountered.

That footage enters a case where the condition of the Flynn home is central to two competing accounts.

Caleb Flynn has pleaded not guilty to 11 charges, including aggravated murder, in the death of his wife, Ashley Flynn. Prosecutors allege Caleb killed Ashley and staged the Tipp City home to resemble a home-invasion burglary. The defense maintains that Ashley was killed during an actual home invasion and that investigators later rushed to judgment against Caleb.

Giampapa’s testimony gives jurors another piece of the original scene as officers encountered it: the garage, the open exterior door, the children still inside the house, and the police response unfolding on body camera.
