Caleb Flynn Said an Intruder Got In. Officers Checked His Garage.

On February 16, 2026, Caleb Flynn called 911 and told a dispatcher that someone broke into his Tipp City, Ohio, home and shot his wife Ashley twice in the head. He said an intruder came through the garage. He said his 9mm handgun was stolen from his truck. He said he was with the kids when it happened. Officers arrived in four minutes. They found Ashley in bed with two gunshot wounds. They found shell casings on the floor. They found the center console of Caleb's truck open in the garage.

And they found a refrigerator sitting in front of the garage side door -- the only plausible entry point for the intruder Caleb described. The court affidavit says it would have had to be pushed to open that door. If nobody pushed the fridge, nobody came through that door. Within 82 hours, Caleb Flynn was arrested and charged.

A grand jury returned an 11-count indictment. Aggravated murder. Three counts of murder. Felonious assault. Tampering with evidence. Witness intimidation. Bond set at 3.5 million. Ashley was 37 -- a volleyball coach, a teacher, and a mother of two daughters who were asleep across the hall. Caleb was a former worship pastor and American Idol contestant. His defense attorney says the government rushed to judgment. Both sides have forensic experts. The trial is expected to last two to three weeks.
